43-year-old Richard L Oxford dead after a motorcycle crash in South Thurston County (Thurston County, WA)

On Monday morning, authorities identified 43-year-old Richard L Oxford, from Longview, as the man who lost his life following a two-vehicle collision on Sunday in South Thurston County.

The fatal motorcycle crash took place a little before 4:45 p.m. on Interstate 5 just north of Maytown. According to the investigation reports, the man was riding on a red 2021 Road Glide FLTRX motorcycle in the far right lane of southbound I-5.

At some point of time, his motorcycle crashed into a silver Honda CR-V while merging left into the center lane just before mile marker 96. The driver of the CR-V, a 46-year-old Auburn woman, remained unharmed in the accident. The motorcycle rider, Richard L Oxford, succumbed to his injuries on the way to a hospital.

He was reportedly wearing a helmet at the time of the collision. One lane of southbound Interstate 5 was shut down for three hours and 17 minutes Sunday evening as crews worked at the scene. No other details are made available.

An investigation into the crash is continuing.
