An Arlington man tragically died in a crash on Monday afternoon on Interstate 5 near Arlington, as reported by the Washington State Patrol. The 43-year-old man was driving the wrong way on northbound I-5 when he collided with two other cars.
The impact caused his vehicle to rotate before hitting a third car. The man was rushed to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett, where he succumbed to his injuries. Three individuals from the other vehicles involved were also injured and hospitalized.
The crash led to the closure of all northbound lanes near the Stillaguamish River Bridge for about 2 ½ hours, resulting in a significant backup of up to 10 miles. Tow assistance arrived by 3 p.m., and the road was reopened around 4 p.m., although traffic congestion persisted as the backup cleared.
