A tragic incident unfolded on Friday evening as a South Bend woman lost her life in a car crash on U.S. Highway 101 north of Butte Creek Road, near Raymond. Tracey I. Koonrad, 38, was reported missing along with her two children, aged 11 and 9, by her husband.
A search operation involving multiple local agencies was launched, and the vehicle was located. Sadly, Tracey Koonrad did not survive the crash. Her two children were found alive but critically injured.
They were airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, where they remain in critical condition. The Washington State Patrol is investigating the incident to determine the cause of the crash.
