The Richmond County Coroner’s Office is investigating a tragic pedestrian fatality that transpired on Thursday, shortly after midnight, at the intersection of Deans Bridge Road and Lyman Street.
The victim, identified as 38-year-old Tony Maurice Walker from Augusta, was struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross Deans Bridge Road. Despite efforts by emergency responders, Walker was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:33 a.m.
The circumstances surrounding the incident are under scrutiny as authorities work to piece together the events leading up to the fatal crash. It is not yet known whether alcohol or drugs played a role.
