According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, a motorcycle accident occurred in Van Zandt County on Tuesday. The crash happened to FM 17 about two miles south of Grand Saline at around 10:30 p.m.
According to the investigators, a 2013 Yamaha motorcycle and a 37-year-old man were involved in the collision. The officials stated that the driver was traveling at a high rate of speed at the curve and crashed into a mailbox.
A 37-year-old Erick W Baker was identified as the Yamaha motorcyclist who suffered significant injuries and was pronounced dead.
The accident is still being investigated by the authorities. It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the accident. Additional information regarding the fatal crash is not available currently.
