A tragic two-vehicle crash on Sunday night near Chelan resulted in one fatality and six injuries. The collision occurred around 8 p.m. on Highway 150 when a 2005 Honda Accord, driven by 23-year-old Mateo Villa-Morales, collided head-on with a 2014 Toyota Tundra towing a travel trailer.
Witnesses reported that the Accord was traveling at a high speed and crossed the centerline near Shop Avenue. Sadly, the passenger of the Accord, 32-year-old Jose Morales-Rosas, died at the scene. Villa-Morales sustained life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in critical condition.
The Tundra’s driver and four passengers were treated for minor injuries at Lake Chelan Hospital. The Chelan County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crash, and Villa-Morales may face charges including DUI, vehicular homicide, and vehicular assault.
