Authorities identified 30-year-old Timothy Pinkerton Jr. as the man who lost his life following a two-vehicle collision Thursday night in Donelson.
The fatal motorcycle crash took place on Elm Hill Pike at McGavock Pike at 6:45 p.m. According to the investigation reports, Pinkerton was riding on his Kawasaki motorcycle east on Elm Hill Pike when a westbound Toyota Corolla took a left turn at the McGavock Pike intersection.
Pinkerton tried to stop, but failed and ended up slamming into the passenger side of the Toyota. On arrival, emergency personnel rushed him to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries moments after arriving. The 43-year-old male driver the Toyota received minimal injuries and did not need to be taken to the hospital.
Officers believe that the initial contributing factor to the crash is the Toyota’s failure to yield to the motorcycle. Charges against the driver are pending at this time. There was no sign of impairment for either driver. No other details are immediately available.
An investigation is continuing.
