The Washington State Patrol reported a motorcycle accident in Richland on Friday. The accident occurred on Highway 240 at around 4:00 p.m.
According to the officials, a red BMW motorcycle was headed east in the area of the Steptoe Street interchange when it left the pavement. The driver was thrown from the vehicle due to the force of the crash.
The driver was fatally injured and was pronounced dead at the scene. He has since been identified as 30-year-old Joshua Elliot. He was apparently wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
The cause of the fatal crash is still being investigated. It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision. There are no other details available at this time.
