The Escondido Police Department reported a motorcycle accident on Friday. The accident occurred at the intersection of Date Street and 5th Avenue at around 2:47 a.m.
According to the officials, a man was headed towards the intersection along with another motorcyclist. He apparently lost control and crashed into a chain-link fence.
The man was critically injured and rushed to a nearby hospital. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. His identity has not been disclosed pending notification of his family.
The cause of the fatal crash is still being investigated at this time. It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision. There are no other details available at this time.
