Houston police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred at 6500 North Freeway (North Interstate Highway 45) around 12:25 a.m. on Saturday. The victim, identified as 26-year-old Jaime Betancourt of Houston, Texas, was riding a black Yamaha YZF motorcycle northbound on the North Freeway.
Betancourt tragically failed to maintain control of his speed and collided with the rear of a white Dodge Challenger, resulting in him being thrown from his motorcycle. Subsequently, a black Chevrolet Malibu struck debris scattered on the road.
Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced Betancourt dead at the scene. The drivers of the Challenger and the Malibu, who cooperated with authorities, were questioned and released.
Thankfully, no other injuries were reported. Investigations into the motorcycle accident continue as authorities seek to determine its exact cause.
