A tragic and fatal crash occurred on eastbound Loop 202 Red Mountain near Priest Drive in Arizona, prompting an investigation by the Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS). The incident, which involved multiple vehicles, took place around 2 a.m.
Monday, as reported by the Phoenix Fire Department and Tempe Fire Department. According to DPS, a Dodge Avenger struck the concrete median and came to a stop in the HOV lane before being hit by a Ford Escape.
The driver of the Avenger, identified as 20-year-old Mariya Marie Jordan of Mesa, was pronounced dead at the scene after being struck by multiple other vehicles. Phoenix Fire noted that four individuals sustained serious injuries and were transported to hospitals, although DPS stated that these injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. DPS is seeking the public’s assistance in gathering more information about this tragic incident.
