A fiery car crash in a west Phoenix neighborhood resulted in the death of one man and left another injured on Thursday afternoon. The multi-vehicle accident was reported just after 1 p.m. near 67th Avenue and Fillmore Street.
It involved 19-year-old David Juarez crashing into parked cars, causing at least two vehicles to burst into flames. Despite efforts by Phoenix firefighters, Juarez died at the scene, while his passenger was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police also responded to reports of a shooting nearby, but no additional victims or suspects were found. The fatal crash is being investigated by the Maricopa County Medical Examiner’s Office.
