A man suspected of driving under the influence allegedly struck and killed a pedestrian on a Puyallup sidewalk Tuesday morning. Authorities responded to the pedestrian accident of a truck colliding with a Walgreens on South Meridian Street at 9:19 a.m.
Prior to the fatal crash, a passenger was reportedly ejected from the truck. Emergency responders found a severely injured man on the sidewalk’s east side, who later succumbed to his injuries.
The driver, a 41-year-old Puyallup resident, was arrested for investigation of DUI and vehicular homicide. Investigations revealed the victim was walking north when the suspect’s pickup hit him from behind before crashing into the Walgreens.
