A tragedy struck on U.S. 129 in Jackson County Monday morning, resulting in one fatality and another critically injured individual. According to a report from the Georgia State Patrol, the collision occurred just before 8:00 a.m. at the intersection of 129 and John B. Brooks Road near Pendergrass.
A black Chrysler 200 traveling north on 129 failed to yield and turned left onto John B. Brooks Road, where it was struck on the passenger side by a southbound white Ford F-250. Both vehicles veered off the roadway post-collision, with the truck ending up overturned.
The passenger of the Chrysler was killed, while the driver sustained critical injuries and was hospitalized. Charges are pending against the Chrysler’s driver, as per Georgia State Patrol officials. The identity of the victim has not been disclosed.
