A fatal single-car crash in south Phoenix on Monday morning has resulted in the closure of a major street. Phoenix police reported that the crash occurred before 8 a.m. when a car collided with a pole along Southern Avenue near 27th Avenue.
Both directions of Southern Avenue have been blocked off by officers conducting an investigation into the incident. Drone footage from the scene revealed a colored sedan with significant damage to the front end.
Emergency responders found at least one man with serious injuries at the scene, who was subsequently transported to a nearby hospital. Tragically, the man later succumbed to his injuries and died. Authorities are still investigating the circumstances leading up to the crash and plan to provide further updates later today.
