The Arizona Department of Public Safety reported a motor vehicle accident on SR 85 near Buckeye on March 27, resulting in one fatality and five individuals hospitalized. The crash occurred shortly before 10 p.m. around milepost 147, a few miles south of Buckeye.
Reports indicate that a wrong-way driver, traveling in a black sedan, collided with a car carrying five passengers, including three teenagers. The wrong-way driver was fatally injured and pronounced dead at the scene, while those in the other vehicle sustained minor injuries and were transported to the hospital for treatment. The identity of the victim remains undisclosed at the moment.
SR 85 saw closures for several hours as investigators worked to determine the factors contributing to this fatal crash. It is not yet known whether alcohol or drugs played any role in the collision. No other details are available as of now.
