A tragedy struck east Phoenix on Friday night as a woman lost her life after being struck by a hit-and-run driver. Police responded to the collision around 8 p.m. near Oak and 26th streets, where they discovered the woman severely injured.
The woman was critically injured and was rushed to a hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead. Her identity has not been disclosed at this time.
According to detectives, an SUV travelling east on Oak Street struck the woman as she crossed the road outside of a designated crosswalk. Authorities are urging the public’s assistance in identifying the SUV or its driver involved in the fatal hit-and-run accident.
Investigations continue into the fatal crash in east Phoenix.
