On Sunday, one person was killed following a traffic accident near Kent.
As per the initial information, the fatal motorcycle crash took place at around 7 p.m. on Interstate 5 south near Kent. The preliminary investigation indicated that a motorcyclist was fleeing from a state trooper, causing a multi-vehicle wreck. The incident led to the closure of all southbound lanes near South 288th Street.
The motorcyclist was reportedly driving recklessly prior to the collision. No other injuries or fatalities were reported in connection to the crash. Authorities have not provided any estimated time for reopening of the southbound lanes. According to the officials, the motorcyclist drove off when the officer attempted to stop the driver.
The rider continued to drive recklessly, and crashed into a tow truck on the side of the road. Officers released a statement that this was a motorcycle that ran off from a trooper and they did not chase. The motorcycle was splitting traffic and ended up slamming into another vehicle. No additional information has been provided.
The crash remains under review.
