According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, a multi-vehicle accident occurred in Goliad County on Monday. The crash happened at a construction stop on U.S. Highway 183.
According to the investigators, a Freightliner box truck and a tractor-trailer were involved in the collision. The officials stated that the driver of the Freightliner box truck rear-ended the tractor-trailer.
The driver of the box truck was identified as Zachary Allen Wilkinson who suffered significant injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Some portions of the construction stop on U.S. Highway 183 are blocked for further investigation. The officials have not yet disclosed if alcohol or drugs played a role in the accident. No additional information regarding the fatal crash was provided by the deputies.
