Victor Siharath of Pomona was arrested Saturday night following a fatal crash allegedly caused by driving under the influence, authorities stated. The Pomona Police Department responded to a two-vehicle crash at White Avenue and Phillips Boulevard around 11 p.m.
Siharath, with a prior DUI conviction, was apprehended, according to police spokesperson Aly Mejia. Multiple individuals suffered moderate to severe injuries and were treated by Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel.
Two women succumbed to their injuries at the scene, while another woman passed away at a nearby hospital. The victims, identified as Yesenia (Ochoa) Olaez, Lorena Morales, and Alejandra Olaez, were reportedly returning from a baby shower.
Yesenia Olaez was in the process of adopting her 11-year-old nephew. One person remained hospitalized in critical condition, while Siharath faced felony DUI charges. The Pomona Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team is conducting further inquiries into the multi-vehicle accident.
