On Thursday, a woman lost her life while a juvenile suffered injuries following a crash in Atlanta.
As per the initial information, the fatal traffic accident took place just before 10:30 p.m. in the northbound lanes of Interstate 675 near Anvil Block Road. The early reports showed that a vehicle broke down on the right shoulder of the interstate that was originally occupied by two people.
The driver of the vehicle was standing outside of the disabled vehicle when she and the vehicle were struck by a tractor-trailer. According to the eyewitnesses, they saw the tractor-trailer veering in and out of lanes before hitting the woman. After the collision, the tractor-trailer driver tried to regain control and then jackknifed across all lanes of travel.
The female driver was declared dead at the scene by the officials. The juvenile was rushed to a local hospital with unspecified injuries. The truck driver was placed into custody and charged with vehicular homicide and failure to maintain lane. No other details are made available.
The crash remains under investigation.
