Woman killed after a truck crashes into poles in southeast Houston (Houston, TX)

On Monday morning, a woman lost her life when the pickup truck she was riding in slammed into two poles at an intersection in Third Ward in southeast Houston.

As per the initial information, the fatal single-vehicle crash took place in the 34000 block of Scott Street at about 3:15 a.m. The early reports revealed that the driver of a silver Ford F-250 was going at a high rate of speed when the truck hit a power pole, flipped over, then crashed into a second power pole.

The 35-year-old woman was in the passenger seat of the truck. She succumbed to her injuries at the crash scene. The authorities will reveal the identity of the deceased after notifying the next of kin. The 40-year-old male driver of the vehicle remained unharmed.

Officials found out that he was not drunk but speed might have contributed to the accident. No charges have been filed at this time. It was unclear if either passenger was buckled up at that time. No other details are immediately available.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
