Woman killed, 4 others injured after a two-vehicle crash in Wapato (Wapato, WA)

A woman lost her life while four people suffered injuries following a traffic collision in Wapato.

As per the initial information, the fatal two-vehicle crash took place at the intersection of Lateral A Road and Fort Road in Wapato. The preliminary investigation indicated that a woman was in a mustang traveling down Lateral A Road. It is not clear if the mustang pulled out too fast or failed to stop at the stop sign but a pickup truck going down Fort Road collided with the mustang.

Officials believe that the truck did not have enough time to avoid the collision. Due to the impact, the woman was pinned in her car. She suffered major injuries and was declared dead at the scene by the officials. The three occupants of the pickup truck and another person that was in the mustang were all transported to the hospital.

None of the people involved are enrolled Yakama Nation. The roads were shut down for some time and officials did not provide any estimated time of reopening of the roads. No other details are immediately available.

An investigation is continuing.
