A woman lost her life after being struck by a vehicle overnight in Spring.
As per the initial information, the fatal auto-pedestrian crash took place on the North Freeway. The preliminary investigation showed that a Dodge Challenger was heading southbound in the number 2 lane of the North freeway. Just then, a woman ran onto the southbound lanes and started running north towards that Dodge Challenger.
The driver of the vehicle failed to stop on time and side swiped the pedestrian on the passenger side. Due to the impact, the victim fell onto the ground. After that, she was struck by several vehicles on the freeway. No other vehicles reportedly stopped except for the Challenger. The woman suffered major injuries and was declared dead at the scene by the officials.
According to an eyewitness, the female pedestrian was seen leaving one of the establishments across the street from the scene. Authorities are now investigating if the woman had been drinking at one of the local restaurants or a bar off the feeder road. The driver of the Challenger did not display any signs of impairment and cooperated with the officials. A section of the North Freeway was back open Thursday morning. No other details are available.
The incident remains under active review.
