On Saturday morning, a 20-year-old woman, from Edmonds, lost her life following a rear-end collision on I-5 near Mountlake Terrace.
As per the initial information, the fatal traffic accident took place on the King and Snohomish county line on I-5 near 220th Street at about 6:30 a.m. The early reports showed that a truck was carrying a mattress that flew out of the back, blocking the road. Another car then crashed into the mattress as a result of which the woman failed to maintain control of the car.
After that, the vehicle traveled across all lanes of northbound I-5. A semi-truck that was following behind failed to avoid the crash and ended up hitting the vehicle. The woman died of her injuries after the accident. All lanes of northbound Interstate 5 were shut down at 220th St SW for approximately six hours, before reopening at about 12:30 p.m. No other details are available.
An investigation is ongoing.
