On Thursday morning, a 34-year-old woman lost her life while a 4-year-old girl suffered critical injuries following a two-vehicle collision in Sacramento County.
As per the initial information, the fatal car crash took place at Power Inn Road and Elsie Avenue a little after 8:30 a.m. The early reports showed that a man was driving a white 2006 Chevrolet pickup truck at a high rate of speed and was veering in and out of traffic.
At some point of time, the man disregarded a red light and crashed into a silver 2014 Ford Explorer with the woman and the young girl inside. Due to the impact, the Ford SUV rolled over and the Chevrolet came to a stop in a ditch. The woman, from Sacramento, died of her injuries after the crash while the young girl was rushed to a hospital in critical condition.
The driver of the pickup truck, a 32-year-old man from Elk Grove, attempted to walk away after the accident but was caught by people at the scene. He was taken into custody on suspected DUI charges. No other details are made available.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
