On early Sunday, a vehicle rammed into a utility pole in Torrance, causing power lines to fall while closing down Crenshaw Boulevard in the area.
The incident was reported at 1:07 a.m. on Crenshaw Boulevard at Clarellen Street, stated Torrance police Lt. M. Chance. The vehicle driver escaped with minimal injuries, Chance added. The force of the collision caused live power lines to fall to the ground.
As a result, northbound and southbound lanes of Crenshaw Boulevard were blocked around Pacific Coast Highway while Edison crews were busy in the repair work, he mentioned. They arrived at the scene at about 2:30 a.m., Chance said. Police received information of power outages in the affected area, he concluded.
An investigation is ongoing at this time.
