On Thursday afternoon, a tractor that was used for cutting up trees in Slidell kicked into gear and ran down two people, causing serious injuries to both of them and damaging nearby property.
As per the initial information, the incident took place on Hickory Drive in Slidell. The early reports showed that two men were doing storm recovery work when the tractor, for unknown reasons, kicked into gear. No one was driving the tractor at the time of the accident. The reports further revealed that bystanders utilized a jack to free one person who was pinned under the tractor before the arrival of fire department.
The two men were flown to University medical Center via Acadian Air Med. Two helicopters reportedly landed on the roadway, loaded up the victims and took off. The two men sustained severe injuries that required the choppers to airlift them to receive medical attention. Police mentioned that it is being treated as an accident.
The investigation is ongoing.
