The Washington State Patrol reported a multi-vehicle accident in Marysville on Saturday morning. The accident occurred on southbound Interstate 5 near 136th Street North.
According to the officials, two vehicles were involved in the collision. An SUV was driving south when it went off the road and crashed into a parked WSP patrol car. The SUV had been driving at a high speed before the crash.
The driver of the patrol car was fatally injured and was pronounced dead at the scene. The officials have since identified the victim as Christopher M. Gadd, a state patrol trooper. The driver of the SUV was injured and was taken to a hospital for treatment.
The fatal crash is still being investigated at this time. It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision. There are no other details available at this time.
