On Monday night, a tow-truck operator lost his life when an SUV slammed into him on the High Five interchange, knocking him off the overpass and onto the freeway below.
The preliminary reports showed that the man was hooking a car to his tow truck on the LBJ Freeway, close to U.S. Highway 75 at around 9:45 p.m. when a Chevrolet Tahoe struck him and the car. The impact of the crash knocked the man off the overpass and he fell onto the freeway below.
The man was declared deceased at the scene by the officials. The SUV’s driver, 35-year-old Denise Chantel Alford, was taken into custody on a charge of intoxication manslaughter, police confirmed. Alford was being held in the Dallas County jail on Tuesday. Her bail had not been set, and it was unknown if she had an attorney. The identity of the deceased will be released once the next of kin is notified.
The crash remains under active investigation.
