NHP responded to a three-vehicle crash that killed one person and injured two people. The incident occurred at mile marker 3, east of Stateline, at about 5:30 p.m. on Sunday night on U.S. Highway 50 near Zephyr Cove.
Afterwards, NHP closed both lanes for traffic for about five hours. Later, officials reopened the road at about 10:30 p.m.
One victim died at the scene. However, medics airlifted the other victim to a hospital via CareFlight. Emergency staff transported third person to hospital for treatment through an ambulance.
According to authorities, impairment seemed to have played a factor in the fatal collision.
Also, an investigation is ongoing.
