Shavar Betts was killed in a crash at 112th Street and Miles Avenue in Cleveland last Tuesday, April 16. Eyewitnesses recounted that Betts, riding a red scooter, was struck by a driver who fled the scene after the collision.
The impact was so severe that Betts was thrown onto the car’s roof, windshield, and hood before being ejected. Despite efforts to save him, Betts succumbed to his injuries at the University Hospital. Police have since identified the driver.
It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision. The circumstances surrounding the accident remain under investigation as authorities work to determine the factors contributing to this tragic event.
