According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, a fatal crash was reported on Sunday in Van Zandt County. Officials confirmed that one person died due to the motor vehicle accident.
Authorities stated that the collision occurred on State Highway 198. The deceased person was identified as Sgt. Jeremy McCoy, an officer of the Van Zandt County Sheriff’s Office.
Sgt.McCoy was driving southbound when he collided with a truck. McCoy was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck. One of his children who was in the vehicle was flown to Dallas hospital sustaining injuries.
Other information pertaining to the accident has not been released yet. The crash continues to be investigated by the TDPS.
