Semi-truck caught fire after crashing into Penn Cove Pottery on Whidbey Island (Coupeville, WA)

On Sunday morning, a semi-truck and trailer slammed into Penn Cove Pottery on Whidbey Island.

As per the initial information, the single-vehicle wreck took place at about 8:45 a.m. on State Route 20 in Coupeville. According to the responders, the semi-truck and trailer ended up on its side and caught fire due to the crash. A corner of Penn Cove Pottery was damaged by the flames.

Reports revealed that two men extricated the driver of the semi from the vehicle. It is unknown if the driver was hospitalized or not. An alternative route on Arnold Road and Zylstra Road was recommended for commercial vehicles. The roadway was shut down for a lengthy period of time. No other details are immediately available.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
