Ricky Hagar dead after a semi-truck crash on I-10 in West Baton Rouge (Port Allen, LA)

On Thursday, Ricky Hagar was killed following a multi-vehicle wreck in West Baton Rouge.

As per the initial information, the fatal semi-truck crash was reported at about 11 a.m. on the eastbound lanes of the interstate 10, just past LA 415. The early reports showed that the bus was coming to a stop when a semi-truck crashed into it. The force of the collision pushed the bus into the back of another 18-wheeler before it strike a cable barrier in the median of the interstate.

The trucker who hit the bus from behind, identified as Ricky Hagar, died of his injuries after the accident. He worked for Kingdom Trucking, a company based out of Texas. Three people in the bus were hurt, which is owned by Turimex Internacional and was traveling from Mexico to North Carolina. Around 40 passengers were transported to a community center to wait for another ride.

The stretch of Interstate 10 where the crash occurred is infamous among local law enforcement for its frequent accidents, many of them involving 18-wheelers. Officials shut down Interstate 10 as crews worked at the scene, but it was back open at about 5 p.m. Thursday. No other details are available.

The crash remains under investigation.
