A 59-year-old pedestrian died after being hit by a vehicle in Las Vegas while officers arrested 30-year-old Luis Gonzalez who initially fled the scene after the collision.
As per the initial information, the fatal hit-and-run crash took place at about 2:05 a.m. on Lamb Boulevard and Las Vegas Boulevard. The preliminary reports showed that the pedestrian was using a walker when they got struck by a Chevrolet Malibu. The victim suffered major injuries and was declared dead at the scene by the officials.
The driver of the involved vehicle left the scene after the collision, but was later found in the parking lot of a nearby apartment complex and was arrested. Officers identified the driver as 30-year-old Luis Gonzalez, a Las Vegas resident. There was a 28-year-old woman in the car with him.
According to the troopers, Gonzalez showed signs of impairment and failed field sobriety tests. He was taken into custody for driving under the influence and Hit and Run charges. No other details are made available.
The crash remains under investigation.
