A car’s passenger was killed following a traffic collision in Vista on Wednesday afternoon.
As per the initial information, the fatal car accident took place at around 4 p.m. on West Vista Way, which runs parallel to State Route 78 like a frontage road, close to Grapevine Road, in front of a popular Mexican market and the Boomers amusement park.
The preliminary reports showed that a car and trash truck crashed into each other on late Wednesday afternoon in Vista. The reports also indicated that the car ended up wedged into the rear of the EDCO truck.
The driver of the car escaped from the scene and remained at large as of late Wednesday night. On arrival, first responders found the silver Mazda 6 stuck in the back of an EDCO trash truck. A man was found dead in the car’s passenger seat, but the driver had reportedly left the car.
Deputies searched for the driver around the accident scene, but it was not successful. Investigators then identified the car’s registered owner and tried to find that person at his or her residence, but that attempt was also unsuccessful. At this time, it is unknown if alcohol and drugs were involved in the collision.
The incident remains under active review.
