The Thurston County Sheriff’s Office reported a motor vehicle crash on Friday morning. The accident happened in the 12900th block close to Yelm at around 2:15 a.m. The collision involved a car and a motorcycle.
The driver of the Volkswagen Golf left the scene in another car before it headed south. According to their preliminary investigation, the driver crossed the center line as they were approaching a curve in the road and entered the northbound lane, where they hit the motorcycle.
At the scene, the motorcyclist was declared dead. His identity is not yet known at this time.
The deputies had detained a middle-aged Yelm man in connection with the fatal crash. He was charged with vehicular homicide and lodged in the Thurston County Jail.
