One person died, another injured following a fiery collision near Laytonville (Laytonville, CA)

One person was killed and another received injuries following a fiery collision Monday afternoon near Laytonville.

As per the initial information, the fatal two-vehicle accident took place at around 2:40 p.m. on Highway 101 near Laytonville. The early reports showed that a pickup truck and a big rig hauling soil were involved in the wreck. One of the vehicles reportedly caught fire due to the crash.

Authorities confirmed that one person died while another suffered moderate to major injuries. Air ambulance could not respond to the scene due to the weather. The area was closed down while crews worked at the scene. No other details are available

An investigation is underway.
