One person dead following an auto-pedestrian collision on I-80 in Berkeley (Berkeley, CA)

On Wednesday, one person was killed after getting struck by a vehicle on I-80 in Berkeley.

Just before 6:20 p.m., CHP officers got information of a body seen in a roadway near I-80. On arrival, authorities came to known that a vehicle hit a pedestrian close to an eastbound on-ramp near Ashby Avenue and Seventh Street.

Despite the life-saving efforts, the person was declared deceased at the scene. The California Highway Patrol shut down multiple Interstate 80 lanes while crews worked at the scene. The identity of the deceased will be released once the next of kin is notified. No other details are available.

An investigation is underway.
