One person dead after a traffic accident in Smith County (Smith County, TX)

At least one person was killed following a wreck on Tuesday in Smith County.

As per the initial information, the fatal traffic accident took place at about 4:30 p.m. on Hwy 31 E, close to CR 211. Authorities confirmed that one person died as a result of the accident. It is unknown if the crash caused any other injuries.

As of now, it is also unclear how many vehicles in total were involved in the wreck. Westbound 31 was completely blocked after the wreck, while eastbound traffic was rerouted to CR 211. Chapel Hill Fire Department and EMS also responded to the crash scene. No other details are available.

An investigation is underway.
