Officials identified Michael Anthony Moorer as the man who lost his life following a traffic collision Thursday morning on Washington Rd.
As per the initial information, the fatal car accident took place on Washington Rd. near Fioli Dr. The preliminary reports showed that Michael Anthony Moorer, of Augusta, was driving West on Washington Rd. near Fioli Dr. when he veered into the center lane to avoid stopped traffic.
However, Moorer swerved into oncoming traffic to avoid someone in the center lane, colliding with a 2005 Pontiac G6 head-on. First responders performed CPR at the scene, but Moorer died of his injuries. The driver of the Pontiac was rushed to a local hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. No other details are available.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
