Authorities identified 84-year-old Louis D Baudoin as the man who lost his life after a pedestrian crash on Louisiana Highway 339 in Vermilion Parish.
Troopers actively responded at 8:30 to a fatal auto-pedestrian accident on Hwy 339 near Hwy 338. The incident killed 84-year-old Louis D. Baudoin, a resident of Abbeville. The preliminary reports showed that Baudoin was walking east across the roadway in the northbound lane of Hwy 339 when he was fatally hit by a northbound vehicle. Baudoin was declared deceased on the scene by the Vermilion Parish Coroner’s Office.
The driver of the vehicle was reportedly wearing a seatbelt and remained unharmed in the accident. Impairment on Baudoin’s part is unclear, but a standard toxicology sample was taken for analysis. The driver of the vehicle also submitted a breath sample, showing no presence of alcohol, and was not impaired at the time of the collision.
An investigation is ongoing.
