On Monday, authorities identified 62-year-old Carol Ann Neatherlin, of San Antonio, as the woman who lost her life after a head-on collision involving a drunk driver on Friday, October 1 in Evant, a city which is 62 miles west of Waco.

The investigation reports showed that Neatherlin was a passenger in a 2016 Dodge Ram pickup truck when the driver of a 2020 Ford Edge Sedan collided with the vehicle head-on. The reports further revealed that the driver of the Ford Sedan crossed over the double yellow center stripes and came into the way of the pickup truck.

Just then, the driver of the Dodge Ram veered to avoid the crash, but the Ford Sedan still slammed into the truck. Neatherlin was declared dead on the scene. The driver of the Dodge Ram, describe as a 71-year-old San Antonio man, was taken to a local hospital with non-critical injuries. His identity has not been released yet.

The driver of the Ford Sedan was only identified as a 48-year-old Austin man. According to officials, he displayed signs of intoxication and was charged with intoxication manslaughter. He has also not been identified as yet.

An investigation is ongoing.
