Authorities identified 61-year-old Rosa Clarke, of San Juan Capistrano, as the woman who succumbed to her injuries Saturday in a hospital after she was seriously injured in a car accident late last month in Carlsbad.
The investigation reports showed that she sustained injuries in a collision that happened on Sept. 27 while she was driving south on Interstate 5 in Carlsbad. The reports further revealed that Clarke lost control of her vehicle on the off-ramp at La Costa Avenue for unknown reasons and hit traffic barrels, causing her vehicle to spin around and crash into a pickup.
When emergency responders arrived at the scene, Clarke informed them she was experiencing chest pains. While she was rushed to the hospital, she became unconscious and paramedics began performing CPR on her. She died from her injuries on Saturday at Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla when “she did not elicit signs of a neurological recovery,” the Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed. The victim, Rosa Clarke, lived with her family in San Juan Capistrano.
An investigation continues.
