Authorities identified 54-year-old Charles Wright, of Cookville, as the man who lost his life following a single-vehicle accident Wednesday afternoon on U.S. Highway 271 near Mt. Pleasant.
As per the initial information, the fatal semi-truck wreck took place on US 271, about nine miles north of Mt. Pleasant. The preliminary reports revealed that Charles Wright was driving a 2016 Kenworth truck tractor with a trailer south on US 271.
For an undetermined reason, the 18-wheeler went off the road, hit several trees, and flipped over. A Titus County justice of the peace declared Wright dead at the scene. It is unknown if anyone else was injured in the crash. No other details are available.
An investigation is ongoing.
