Officials identified 50-year-old Julio Maymi-Diaz who died after a crash in downtown Las Vegas (Las Vegas, NV)

Authorities identified 50-year-old Julio Maymi-Diaz as the man who lost his life following a traffic collision early Friday morning in downtown Las Vegas while officers arrested 24-year-old Daysia Brown for DUI.

The two-vehicle accident took place a little before 2 a.m. at the intersection of Las Vegas Boulevard and Gass Avenue. According to the investigation reports, Brown was driving a Jeep eastbound on Gass when she ignored a red light at the intersection of Las Vegas Boulevard. Just then, the Jeep crashed into a Toyota that was northbound.

Maymi-Diaz was a passenger in the Toyota. On arrival, paramedics rushed him to a hospital where he later died of multiple blunt force trauma injuries. Brown remains in custody on $50,000 bond at the Clark County Detention Center. She is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday on a charge of DUI causing death. No other details are made available.

An investigation continues.
