Authorities identified 45-year-old Jason Vogan, from Arlington, as the man who was killed after being hit by a vehicle last week on I-5.
The fatal auto-pedestrian crash took place on northbound I-5, just south of Highway 530 at about 4:30 p.m. on Feb. 8. According to the investigation reports, Jason Vogan went to help a friend whose car had stalled. Vogan pulled over in front of his friend’s car on the right shoulder of northbound I-5.
At that time, 21-year-old Ismael Cruz Sanchez, of Burlington, was traveling north in a black BMW when he hit one of the parked vehicles, pushing it into Vogan and his friend. Vogan succumbed to his injuries at the scene. His cause of death was found out to be blunt force injuries, officers confirmed on Tuesday afternoon.
Vogan’s friend, a resident of Stanwood, was rushed to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett with a broken leg and ribs. Cruz Sanchez was taken into the Snohomish County Jail in Everett for investigation of vehicular homicide, vehicular assault, felony driving under the influence and three misdemeanors. He remained behind bars Tuesday afternoon with bail set at $1 million. No additional information has been provided.
An investigation is ongoing.
