Officials identified 38-year-old Jesus Zuniga, of Fairfield, who died after being struck by a vehicle Saturday night on Interstate Highway 80 in Fairfield.
As per the initial information, the fatal auto-pedestrian accident took place at 9:35 p.m. The preliminary reports showed that Zuniga was attempting to cross the eastbound lanes of I-80, just east of West Texas Street, and was hit by a Chevrolet Camaro.
Zuniga was rushed to North Bay Medical Center where he was declared dead. A 33-year-old Fairfield man, who was driving the Camaro, reportedly did not receive any injuries. It is unknown if drugs and alcohol were involved in this traffic collision. No other information is available.
An investigation is ongoing.
