Officials identified 37-year-old Philip Willis who died after a crash in Lake Tyler (Tyler, TX)

Authorities identified 37-year-old Philip Willis, a resident of Arp, who was killed after a single-vehicle accident on Friday morning in Lake Tyler.

As per the initial information, officers actively responded to the area of County Road 230 approximately three miles west of Arp at around 10:15 a.m. The reports showed that the driver of a 2006 Dodge Ram pickup was going south on CR 230 when the vehicle drifted off the road for reasons that are yet to be known.

The vehicle then hit a guardrail and ended up in Lake Tyler upside down. Willis was declared deceased at the scene by Judge Meredith and transported to East Texas Mortuary in Tyler. His next of kin has been notified, officials said.

The investigation continues.
